Preamble & Mission:
World Trade Council of Wichita, Inc. [WTC] is organized
exclusively as a non-profit organization to foster the work and ideals
of international trade via export educational seminars, country & agency
trade programs, and company specific international trade/export strategy
& success case studies as role models.
Specifically, purposes and objectives/goals are designed
to:
• Provide a forum for networking and exchanging professional experiences
among members and visiting country Ambassadors, Consuls General, Trade
Commissioners, trade agencies, trade delegates and trade specialists;
• Present country/agency/company trade programs with best market
prospects by organizing monthly trade meetings, international trade
seminars & annually-nationally proclaimed World Trade Week events;
• Advocate policy positions on trade issues [e.g., exports, imports,
trade barriers] and public policy legislation;
• Assist in updating Kansas International Trade databank, maintained by
CIBA, to conduct periodic surveys to accurately portray “Kansas Export
Profile, Problems & Prospects”, and nominate member firms for export
achievement awards for export of goods/service excellence;
• Identify opportunities for trade and cultural missions and encourage
participation from member companies, and report Council’s activates to
the media;
• Bring an awareness of International Business [IB] & develop future
manpower resources via the annual High School International Trade Essay
Prize/Scholarship competition, IB Scholarships and Internships for
students enrolled in WSU-IB Majors & IFS-LAS Majors, and offer
opportunities for IB students, IBSA/AIESEC to assist in the conduct of
WTC country programs;
• Serve as an advisory group to WSU, Barton School’s Center for
International Business Advancement [CIBA] & USED/BIE project, and to
develop strategies to further internationalization of business education
at universities and industry.
• To this end, WTC cooperates with CIBA-WSU, USED/BIE Projects, AIESEC/IBSA-WSU,
The Chamber, KsWTC, Ks ITCC, federal/state/city agencies, public
officials, embassies, consulates general, trade associations which
foster, develop and encourage the same purposes/goals.
